A little bit about me:
My name is Rachel van der Horst, I am originally from France; England has been my home since 1993. In 1997 I met my future husband, a cute south african living in London...as they say, the rest is history. We travelled the 4 corners of the world, lived abroad for a while and learnt a lot about different cultures. When I wasn’t travelling, I worked in hospitality & management for over 5 years and then after doing my travel studies, I worked in the travel industry for over 6 years. Travel and discovering new places was and still is my passion, something that would happen to be useful later on in my life as a destination wedding organizer.

So when did the Stationery bug bite me, you may ask?
I made cards for years for friends and family, and it’s not until my wedding that I started designing professionally. In 1998, my “to be” mother-in-law Gloria, a craft genius I have to add, introduced me to card craft, materials and styles ; that was it, I caught the bug and from then I did all my cards whether it be a “birthday” or a “get well soon” card.
We sold the cards in markets and to friends and family until I created Thanda Creations Ltd. There is nothing better than finding new paper or materials and ideas keep flowing in my mind about how I can transform this into a great piece of stationery. I love it!

A little bit about Thanda Creations:
After our fabulous wedding in France in 2006, people kept telling me I should change my career and go into the wedding business, even the professionals helping on our wedding day were commenting on it, so I listened and started a business plan.
We started with stationery first and kept working on the wedding planning part for a few years before launching it.
We needed a name for the company and one of the places we honeymooned at was the Thanda Game Lodge in South Africa, a magical and luxurious place I would recommend to any romantics and nature lovers out there. We loved the name Thanda and after learning what it meant, there was no doubt in my mind, Thanda Creations Wedding Stationery was born!
In early 2009, Thanda Creations was asked to help on a wedding in the City of London; with our expertise,creativity and the bride’s ideas, the wedding was a big success.
This and other events gave us the confidence to launch Thanda Wedding & Event planning. Also, my passion and knowledge for travel and finding little gems means we can confidently plan amazing weddings abroad, France and South Africa being our speciality.
In 2010, we are launching a Baby stationery range and a Children & Adults Invitation range too.
